"Romeo + Juliet"

After School Movie for Extra CrediT!

Permission Slip Required- Click HERE.

(Students who are not in Mrs. Huynh-Duc's class are NOT permitted to attend.)

In conclusion to our Romeo and Juliet unit, I will be showing the 1996 Baz Luhrmann adaptation “Romeo + Juliet” after school on Thursday, May 3, 2012. This film version is especially unique because it updates the classic play to a hip, modern setting while still retaining the original Shakespearean language.
This movie is rated PG-13 for “scenes of contemporary violence and some sensuality.”

For students who are able to stay and watch the film in its entirety from 4 until 6 p.m., I will provide a 200-point “bonus” to their grade (the equivalent of a “free” quiz grade).

If a student cannot stay but wishes to watch the film on his/her own, a supplemental handout is available by clicking HERE.

Supplemental handout (for students who cannot attend) will be due by Monday, May 14th for credit.

Weekly Poem Extra Credit... anytime

In a vigilant effort to exercise your brain muscles, I hope you will peruse the poems that I post on the homepage of this website each week. Tell me what you think! Turn in a one-page (typed, double-spaced, size 12 font) personal response to the poetry. Be sure to write at the top of the page: POETRY EXTRA CREDIT. If you want extra credit on your extra credit, connect the poems to the quote of the week that I post!

Vocabulary Extra Credit... Every Friday

If you come across a vocabulary word while reading, write it down. Include the sentence, page number, author, and title of work. You may submit up to 5 sentences (on one sheet of paper, please) each week, each for an extra point on that week's vocabulary quiz.
